Hello! Thanks for stopping by!  Here’s a little bit about me.

I was born and raised in New Orleans, La. Living there, surrounded by the colorful architecture and tropical plant life, gave me a love of color and nature. Over the last decade or so I have been very fortunate to travel around the US and Europe. During these trips, I was inspired by the wilderness, particularly ocean and mountain views.

My original love is calligraphy and lettering. For 15 years I created professional greeting card designs using calligraphy. My work was published in Somerset Studio Magazine, Letter Arts Review and Cloth Paper Scissors magazine. I taught calligraphy and mixed media workshops for several years all over the US and Canada.

In 2013 I decided to go back to art school and got an MFA in 2015. This allowed me to become an adjunct art history professor at a local community college. It is this background which inspires the large gestural paintings that I enjoy creating. During grad school my interests shifted to painting, and discovering how to incorporate lettering into abstract art. This is now my process, even if the words can’t be read.

After living in Memphis, Tn. for 25 years, I relocated to Madison, Wi. in 2019 to be with my oldest daughter, and beautiful granddaughters. In November 2021 I opened my new studio in Madison.

Artist Statement
An intense love of letterforms, and the beauty of color and light in nature are the driving forces behind my work. I am inspired by spiritual writings, poetry and music, and occasionally write the texts used in my art.
